Semi-Crash Shuts Down Section of I-69 In Allen County

A semi-truck crash in Allen County shut down a section of I-69 Tuesday Morning. At mile marker 308 between the Indiana 14 / Illinois Road and U.S. 30 / Goshen Road exists on I-69 in Fort Wayne, a semi-truck lost control and crashed through a barrier resulting in traffic being closed off and detoured around the area.

The crash happened just shortly after 3 A.M. when the truck crashed through the barrier, then rolling on to its side. The driver of the vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Debris and diesel fuel spilled across all lanes in both directions as a result of the crash, causing the interstate to be shut down in both directions. As crews cleaned up the scene, the northbound lanes were reopened at approximately 5:20 A.M. Tuesday morning, while it was not until shortly after 6:05 A.M. when lanes in the southbound direction were reopened.

The crash is under investigation by Fort Wayne Police, and other local authorities.
