Indiana County Unemployment Numbers Released
Tuesday, September 24, 2019

It looks like July’s unemployment increases were temporary or outliers.

The Department of Workforce Development released county jobless rates Monday that showed all five area counties were down significantly.

LaGrange County fell from 3.3% in July to 2.7% in August as the workforce contracted by almost 400 persons. The number of jobless persons also dropped by 125. That puts the county about where it was a year ago when unemployment was 2.8%.

Elkhart County went from 3.6% to 3%. Noble County from 3.8% to 3%, and Steuben County from 2.8 to 2.6%. DeKalb County went from 3.1 to 2.7%.
